[Matt Cutts] Answers - What should we expect in the next few months?

Google's very own Matt Cutts states the following in his video update - "What should we expect in the next few months in terms of SEO for Google?":

"We're doing a better job detecting when someone is an authority in a specific space. You know it could be medical or it could be travel, whatever… and trying to make sure that those rank a little more highly if you're some sort of authority or a site that (according to the algorithms) we think might be a little bit more appropriate for users" – Matt Cutts

Interesting, sounds just like the Niche Dominator – it builds Authority to your Website, Brand and Author Personas…

What if you're trying to recover, diversify your backlinks, and get more signals that matter to search?

"We've also been looking at Panda and seeing if we can find some additional signals that (and we think we have got some that) help refine things for the sites that are kinda in the border zone, in the grey area a little bit and so, if we can soften the effect a little bit (for those sites that we believe have some additional signals of quality) that will help sites that might have previously been affected (to some degree) by Panda" – Matt Cutts

Additional signals… you mean not just backlinks… yes backlinks are very important, but today we need more than just backlinks…
